Research Objective
The test system installed at an altitude of 2,500 metres at the end of November 2022 will be in operation until winter 2023/24. The electrical solar yield is measured for each of the six photovoltaic modules with different tilt angles – in all weathers and throughout the year. Cameras monitor the influence of wind, snow and ice on the system. A weather station provides meteorological data such as wind strength, temperature and solar radiation.
The data from the weather station is also available to the regional avalanche service and the regional natural hazard safety services. Such data was previously lacking from the Breithorn area. The new weather data from the test facility increases the safety of the municipality of Grengiols in particular.
