Research Objective
Acquire field data, validate the collected information and test a wooden mounting system. To do so, two test installations were built. In the beginning of 2023, 2 times 800 W of modules have been installed (on a steel mounting system) at different tilt angles, measuring power and production, as well as a weather station plotting temperature, wind, snow height and irradiation. In fall 2024, two tables of 8 PV modules each were added, mounted on a wooden structure. The latter is made of untreated laminated larch, to avoid any pollution by chemical products, and fixed to the ground using foundation screws, which do not require any sealing mortar and don’t leave any traces in the ground upon removal. In this test, the strength and durability of a wooden mounting system in the extreme conditions of the alpine environment are examined.
